KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 — Three people were shot dead on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway in Penang, near the exit to Butterworth at about 7.30pm today.

One person is critically wounded. The bodies were located about 50 metres apart from each other, national news agency Bernama reported.

It added that four cars collided at the crime scene.

Police have closed off the area as well as the road leading to the Penang Bridge towards Butterworth.

According to reports by other news outlets, a cameraman with national broadcaster RTM, Muhamad Amirul Amin Amir, was also hit by a stray bullet while riding past the area on his motorcycle with his friend Mohamad Iskandar Osman.

The cameraman has been rushed to the Penang Hospital for medical treatment.

Penang police chief Datuk Abdul Ghafar Rajab is expected to hold a news conference on the incident later tonight.
