KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 — The bilateral agreement on the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) project between Malaysia and Singapore is likely to be signed on December 21.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said he met with Singapore’s Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport Khaw Boon Wan last Tuesday (November 29) to discuss the remaining details of the agreement.

“Both sides are now taking the necessary follow-up action to comply with their respective internal procedures and legal requirements for the signing of this agreement,” he said in a statement, here, today.

The statement did not mention where the signing will take place.

The 350-km project will link Kuala Lumpur and Singapore in just 90 minutes.

For Singapore, the HSR terminal will be located in Jurong East while Malaysia will have seven stations, namely in Bandar Malaysia, Putrajaya, Seremban, Ayer Keroh, Muar, Batu Pahat and Iskandar Puteri.

Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the HSR in Putrajaya on July 19. — Bernama
