KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 — MCA veteran and former deputy minister Datuk Lew Sip Hon has died on Tuesday at the age of 91.

The Star Online reports that he died at home surrounded by family members.

Lew was Deputy Commerce and Industry Minister when he served under Tun Hussein Onn and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He retired after serving as the ambassador to the United States from 1984 to 1986.

Lew was a former MCA vice-president, the second chairman of TAR College (now known as TAR University College) and the Shah Alam MP from 1974 to 1986.

Lew's second child Pastor Dr Lew Lee Choo, 66, said her father had a fall in August last year and suffered bleeding in his brain.

Lew's burial took place at the Nirvana Christian Memorial Garden in Semenyih after a funeral service was at 10am today at the Full Gospel Assembly in Kuchai Lama, Kuala Lumpur.

Lew’s wife Datin Goh Min Check died on Jan 10 last year.
