KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 ― Barisan Nasional (BN) has won two state seats in Sarawak uncontested, according to the Election Commission (EC).
EC chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Hashim Abdullah made the announcement at a press conference in Kuching moments ago.
Earlier today, Bernama quoted Sarawak chief minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem as saying that he was informed that BN had won the Bukit Sari and Bukit Kota seats uncontested.
Parti Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu (PBB)'s Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan are the incumbents for the Bukit Sari and Bukit Kota state seats.
The seats are located in the Limbang Division, which is in between the two borders of Brunei.
According to The Star Online, the Election Commission has said that it will announce the details of nominations at 1pm today.
The EC has said that there are 1.14 million registered voters who will be eligible to vote in Sarawak this year.
This includes 1.1 million regular voters, 25,022 early voters and 106 postal voters.
