BALIK PULAU, April 15 — The Magistrate’s Court here today postponed to May 5 and 6 to continue the hearing of the case of four individuals who stripped in public and participated in a nude sports fest at Teluk Kampi, on the Penang side of the National Park, in Teluk Bahang near here two years ago.

The hearing of the case had been fixed to continue today.

Magistrate Nur Azzuin Abdul Moati postponed the case following a request by lawyer Gobind Singh Deo for time to study the video recording on the alleged event which he had received from the prosecution and to obtain further instruction from his client.

Gobind Singh is representing three of the accused in the case. They are Chew Tok Hwa, 59; Chan Chia Wen, 29; and Kong Meng Leong, 40.

The three of them, and another person, Teh Guan Hoon, 39, had pleaded not guilty and claimed trial on Aug 28, 2014, to a charge of causing annoyance for stripping in public at Pantai Teluk Kampi between 3pm and 6pm on May 30 the same year.

They are charged under Section 294(a) of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 294 of the same code, carries a jail term of three months or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

The four allegedly committed the offence with six others, Loh Kok Hong, 43; Mu Wai Peng, 36; Justin Ang Ji Keng, 26; Yam Kam Hoong, 56; Lionel Loo Joo Heng, 54; and R. Nanda Kumar, 42.

However, the six of them had since pleaded guilty and were sentenced to a month’s jail and RM5,000 fine each.

The prosecution is conducted by prosecution unit chief Datuk Razali Che Ani and deputy public prosecutor Shafiq Mahadi, while Teh is represented by lawyer Jason Khor. — Bernama
