KUALA LUMPUR, March 1 ― Kompleks Kraf Kuala Lumpur in Jalan Conlay, one of the city's main landmarks, will be torn down to make way for the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project.
Utusan Malaysia today quoted a source as saying that the iconic building hosted its final event on February 24.
“The location for the transfer has not been decided and a press conference related to this will be held in the near future.
“Kompleks Kraf in Jalan Conlay turned 20 this year, since its inception in 1996,” the source told the local Malay daily.
The building has been an attraction for both local and international tourists, with its displays of unique local handicraft.
Last year, the building was one of the gathering points for the”‘Red Shirt” protest on September 16.
