HULU TERENGGANU, June 26 — A few shoppers at a Ramadan bazaar in Hulu Terengganu have expressed their disappointment and frustration with the hygiene standards and quality of food sold at the bazaar.
Some shoppers at the bazaar have turned to Facebook group and the WhatsApp application to convey their frustration on their status, making it go viral.
A shopper, Hasniza Hassan who uploaded her status at 11.12 am yesterday, said she was very disappointed when the coconut jelly she bought on Wednesday evening went bad and was not edible.
“Yesterday I bought green coloured jelly but when I took a bite it was already bad. To the Ramadan traders, I don’t mind the price but let me tell you, stop selling rotten food, because children eat them and they are stale,” her status read.
The uploaded status attracted 170 ‘likes’ from the public and received 70 comments from people who supported her views and also expressed similar dissatisfaction.
Fatin Juanah who also commented on Hazniza’s status said she too was upset when the cake she bought was stale.
“Bought ‘kueh lopis’, wanted to eat after tarawih but when I opened the plastic container I caught a whiff of staleness. Longing for kueh lopis,” she said.
For Noor Eyjai who commented on the district Facebook page after experiencing similar frustration said she hoped traders would not only think of making profits at the expense of buyers.
“I bought ‘solok lada’ for RM4, and when I wanted to eat it, it was already stale. How wasteful. Traders please be sincere, do not expect profit by selling rotten food,” she said Meanwhile, checks by Bernama the past three days found there were a lot of unsold food left when it was already late and close to breaking fast time, perhaps some traders took the easy way out of reselling the leftover food the following day. — Bernama
