KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 — DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng today described as unacceptable PAS’s assertion that the resolution to sever ties with his party is not final despite having passed the motion unanimously at its recently held muktamar without debate.

The Penang chief minister said it was absurd for PAS to make such a statement when it was clear that the party’s highest decision-making body — its general assembly — had decided to cut ties with DAP completely.

“They are mature and experienced political leaders. When they make decisions, it is not something to play about with.

“They already passed a motion to sever ties. The motion did not say to refer… the motion was passed without debate. So how can they say something else now?” Lim, who is also Bagan MP, told reporters in Parliament here.

The DAP leader also said it was illogical for PAS to ask its representatives to hold on to posts within the Penang government even after deciding to end any form of co-operation with his party.

He said there was nothing else left to do now for PAS but to ask its leaders to relinquish their posts in the Penang government.

“They should hold on to their principles. This is the logical thing for PAS to do,” Lim said.
