KUALA LUMPUR, March 4 — A new terrorist group called Majmu’ah al-Arkhabiliy consisting of Malaysians and Indonesians has been detected by local authorities, reported a local news portal today.

The group under the command of Islamic State (IS) militants was discovered by intelligence agencies last year, The Star reported Bukit Aman Special Branch Counter Terrorism Division principal assistant director Senior Asst Comm Datuk Ayub Khan as saying.

“They have about 100 members and we are still in the midst of identifying the number of Malaysians involved in the group,” The Star quoted him as saying.

Prior to calling themselves Majmu’ah al-Arkhabiliy, the IS wing went by the name of Katibah Nusantara Lid Daulah Islamiah in Syria and Iraq, he added.
