PORT DICKSON, March 1 — Modernisation and development of the Armed Forces (ATM) assets and equipment are in line with current technology development.

Army Chief Gen Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor said the army would continue to plan its procurement of assets to ensure army preparedness would be maintained.

“With the support and trust of the government and leadership of the Armed Forces, the goal of preparedness will be achieved as we (the armed forces) are the frontliner defence of the land component in the country,” he said.

He was speaking at the Armed Forces Day 82nd anniversary parade held in the Basic Army Training Centre here today.

Raja Mohamed Affandi said ATM would strengthen it forces in eastern Sabah to prepare against any security threat.

The 82nd Armed Forces Day celebration themed ‘Tentera Darat Teguh Siaga ATM Gah ATM Perkasa’ has been a tradition since the establishment of the army on March 1, 1933.

In the parade, Raja Mohamed Affandi awarded Sergeant Iruwan Wadam the ‘Pisau Panglima Tentera Darat’ and also the title of ‘Hero of The Armed Forces 2015’.

He also conferred the ‘Pingat Perkhidmatan Setia’ to 29 army personnel of various ranks while two civil servants received the Sijil Ketua Perkhidmatan. — Bernama
