KUALA TERENGGANU, Dec 8 — The Terengganu government today announced a half-month salary bonus with minimum a payment of RM500 to its 9,719 employees.

Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said an allocation of about RM20 million had been set aside for the purpose and the payment would be made next month.

This is in appreciation of the contributions by the state civil servants, he said when tabling the 2015 Budget at the State Assembly today.

Meanwhile, when met by reporters, Ahmad Razif said the budget met the needs of all levels of the society, including trishaw-riders and traditional passenger boat operators.

The state government, he said, was allocating RM30 million to build new homes and repair houses of 1,300 recipients of the programme to enhance the people’s well-being.

“The state government also agreed to abolish interest in the monthly repayment of affordable homes and to extend the payment period up to 30 years with monthly payment of only RM189,” he added.
