MALACCA, Oct 21 — A security guard died at the Malacca Hospital here, six days after he was attacked by a group of youths during a robbery at a driving institute in Kandang here.

Omar Yusof, 63, who sustained head injuries died at about 11am at the hospital's intensive care unit yesterday.

In the incident last Wednesday, Omar was standing guard behind the counter of the institute when one of the robbers struck him in the back of the head with a blunt object.

They gagged the guard and tied up his hands and legs.

The robbers escaped with a laptop and an undisclosed amount of money belonging to the driving institute.

Melaka Tengah police chief, ACP Shaikh Abdul Adzis Shaikh Abdullah said today, the case was classified as murder. — Bernama
