MELAKA, Aug 5 — A security guard lost RM38,000 after being cheated by a man in a car sale-and-purchase transaction which began last year.
S Sri Venkadesh, 35, said he began dealing with the man in February last year with the intention to sell his Proton Wira and purchase a second-hand Perodua Alza or Proton Persona car.
“The man agreed to help sell my car at a price of RM19,000 and to help me purchase another car, but he asked me to give him another RM19,000,” he told reporters at Melaka Barisan Nasional Service Centre (Pembela) here today.
He said after giving the man RM19,000 and the selling of his Proton Wira was completed in March last year, the man still failed to get him the desired second-hand car.
“I then decided to ask the man to return all my money back, but he gave me three bounced cheques,” said Sri Venkadesh, who lodged a police report on the matter in July last year.
Meanwhile, Melaka Pembela director Amir Hamzah Aziz said they would help the victim to take legal action against the man.
“We have located the man and we will seek cooperation from the relevant quarters to solve this problem,” he added. — Bernama
