KUALA LUMPUR, June 13 — Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) Berhad today announced that four new railway stations in northern Peninsular Malaysia have been completed and have begun operating in stages, from May 9.

The four new stations built under the Ipoh-Padang Besar electrified double tracking project are the Bagan Serai Station (started operations on May 9), Sungai Petani Station (June 10), Gurun Station (June 11) and Alor Setar Station (June 12).

Facilities for the new railway stations include lifts for the disabled, larger parking areas, better toilets and air-conditioned waiting areas for passengers.

KTM Berhad hopes that the new and modern amenities provided will attract the public’s preference to commute by train. — Bernama
