KUALA LUMPUR, March 3 — Air quality because of the current haze in the country was at an unhealthy level at Port Klang and Banting in Selangor, Seri Manjung, Perak, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya at 4pm today.
According to the Department of Environment's website, at 4pm, the Air Pollutants Index (API) reading for Port Klang was 127, Banting (115), Seri Manjung (105), Cheras (135) and Putrajaya (113).
The website said according to API readings at 4pm, air quality was at the moderate level in 24 areas while 22 areas recorded good air quality.
The air quality in several areas was also nearing the unhealthy level, among them Sungai Petani (98), Taiping (99), Muar (94), Seberang Jaya 2 Perai (94), Jalan Tasek, Perak (100) and Shah Alam (92).
Among the areas which had good air quality (at 4pm) were Pasir Gudang (38), Kota Kinabalu (38), Bintulu (28), Kuala Terengganu (26) and Langkawi (45).
API readings of between 0 and 50 is categorised as good, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 300 and above (hazardous). — Bernama
