KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 — PLUS Malaysia Berhad has issued a Travel Time Advisory (TTA) and urged motorists to follow it when going home for the Chinese New Year.
Its Chief Operating Officer, Mohammad Fuad Khusairi said 1.5 million vehicles are expected to use the North-South Expressway (NSE) daily, an increased of 25 per cent compared to 1.2 million vehicles on normal days.
“TTA is issued to avoid motorists from travelling simultaneously and for traffic distribution,” he said at a briefing for CNY, here today.
Also present was the Managing Director of PLUS, Datuk Noorizah Abd Hamid.
Motorists bound for Johor, Northern Perak, Bandaraya Melaka and Jasin on January 29 to 31 are advised to travel from 6am to 1pm and those heading for Central Perak, Alor Gajah, Southern Perak and Negri Sembilan between 1pm and midnight.
The TTA for the return trip on February 1 to 9 is as follows:
— 6am to 2 pm: Johor, Alor Gajah, Kedah, Perlis, Penang and Central Perak.
— 6pm to midnight: Northern Perak, Southern Perak, Jasin, Bandaraya Melaka, and Negri Sembilan.
Mohammad Fuad said over 1,100 toll counters will open with at least 25 employees for each shift.
Traffic will be monitored via PLUSLine while maintenance work will be suspended.
The latest traffic information can be obtained via twitter at www.twitter.com/plustrafik, toll free PLUSLine 1800-88-0000 and electronic billboards.
PLUS will also introduce Plus Mobile Apps where users can download for free to smartphones to get the latest traffic information.
“It allows motorists to receive reports of accidents, congestion, upgrading works, maintenance and activities along the NSE.”
The application is downloaded via Google Play Store for Android gadgets and App Store for iPhone/iPad.
Meanwhile, Red Bull Malaysia will distribute 90,000 cans of Red Bull energy drink to users of the NSE during CNY. — Bernama
