GEORGE TOWN, Jan 19 — One of the two men who went missing after being overcome by strong waves that killed a woman in Pantai Kerachut, Teluk Bahang near here yesterday, has been found drowned.
South West District Police chief Supt Mohd Hatta Mohd Zain said the body of Ashwanpaljit Singh Charnjit Singh, 22, was found on the beach by the search-and-rescue team at 5pm today.
The body was sent to the Balik Pulau Hospital, he said when met at the scene.
The search for the other man, Ku Muhammad Ilyas Ku Abdul Halim, 19, will resume tomorrow at 7.30am after it was called off at 7.30pm due to failing light.
Ashwanpaljit Singh and Ku Muhammad Ilyas were among five people who were swept by the current while bathing in the sea yesterday.
Two of them were saved by passers-by while a woman, P. Yogambigai, 24, drowned.
They were among 24 workers of a factory in Prai who had gone to the beach for a bath after participating in a team-building camp at the Penang National Park in Teluk Bahang. — Bernama
