JOHOR BARU, Jan 15 — The police have arrested two suspected serial killers who are believed to be involved in four murder cases reported in Batu Pahat since November last year.

Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Mohktar Mohd Shariff said the suspects, both with three previous records, were detained in Batu Pahat last Wednesday by a special team which was formed to track them.

He said the suspects were detained to facilitate investigations of four robbery-cum-murder cases reported in Batu Pahat since last November.

The first suspect, aged 30, was detained during a raid at Taman Cahaya Masa, and the other, aged 35, at Kampung Makam Ulu Tiram, he told a media conference here today.

Following their arrest, he said, police also seized five handphones, an iPad, two pen drives and five memory cards, he added.

Mohd Mokhtar said in all the cases, the victims were robbed and then hit on the head with blunt objects until they died, he told a media conference today.

He said the first case involved a 67-year-old storekeeper who was found robbed and killed at Jalan Sulaiman on November 3, followed by another case on November 22 involving a 76-year-old woman.

The third case involved a 67-year-old security guard who was found murdered at a factory in Tongkang Pechah on December 1 and another, involving a 55-year-old man who was found dead with injuries on the head last December 29, he added. — Bernama
