KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 13 — The communication system in flood-hit areas has been fully restored, says Deputy Minister of Communication and Multimedia Datuk Jailani Johari.
“We have approached all industry players to be together in a meeting to discuss matters and find solutions to communication-related issues,” Jailani told a media conference after witnessing a signing ceremony between Celcom Network Sdn Bhd and Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd.
Meanwhile, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Chairman Datuk Mohamed Sharil Mohamed Tarmizi said the inundation of the communication base station had led to communication failure in certain areas especially Pahang and Terengganu.
“However we have tackled the issue and are prepared, in case the flood comes back,” he added.
Meanwhile, the situation in flood-hit Terengganu and Pahang continued to improve yesterday, with only 6,182 evacuees still at relief centres in the two states.
In Terengganu, only 784 evacuees were at 10 relief centres, down from 1,341, while in Pahang the number of evacuees at relief centres dropped to 5,398 from 5,539. — Bernama
