JOHOR BARU, Dec 6 — The number of evacuees in flood-hit Johor rose slightly tonight when 391 people were moved to relief centres in the Pontian district.

They are being housed at a surau, a hall and a community hall there. These relief centres were reopened to accommodate the evacuees.

The portal of the National Security Council said the number of evacuees had risen to 1,507, up from 1,071 this evening.

The other evacuees were in the districts of Batu Pahat (436); Kota Tinggi (145); Segamat (527) and Ledang (eight).

The Meteorological Department website has issued a thunderstorm warning for Segamat, Ledang, Muar, Batu Pahat and Kluang, saying rain could be expected up to midnight. — Bernama
