KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 3 — MCA vice-president Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai today announced that he will be contesting for the deputy president post at the party polls on December 21.

Prior to this, MCA Youth chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong had also confirmed his candidacy for the same post.

According to Lim (picture), the decision to contest for the post of deputy president was in order to bring changes to the party and reduce the cliquish tendencies in the party

“After the 13th general election, I can see that numerous groups had cropped up in MCA which can have an adverse effect on unity among members, and the image of the party.

“As such, I am contesting for the post to reduce the problem and change the perception of the people towards the party,” he told a media conference a Wisma MCA here today.

Lim said he was very confident that his 30 years experience with MCA and in politics would be able to help to lead the party in the future. — Bernama
