LIMBANG, Nov 29 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei will open the toll-free Malaysia-Brunei Bridge linking Limbang District, Sarawak and Temburong District, Brunei on December 8.

Works Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusof said the date was decided at a Cabinet meeting recently.

“Spurred by the opening of the RM25 million bridge, the Works Ministry will upgrade infrastructure in Limbang and Lawas,” he said at a briefing by the Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) here tonight.

He said the Sarawak Public Works Department would be allocated RM140 million by the ministry to upgrade infrastructure in Limbang and another RM70 million for Lawas.

The bridge will facilitate travel between Sarawak, Sabah and Brunei and cut down a five-hour ferry ride across Sungai Pandaruan to merely five minutes. — Bernama
