GEORGE TOWN, Nov 25 — The Penang police, together with the federal police in Bukit Aman, detained a Singaporean, suspected to be the mastermind of an international drug trafficking syndicate, during three successive raids in the city last Friday.
Four other accomplices, comprising two China nationals and two locals, were picked up in the raids which netted an assortment of drugs worth about RM1.1 million.
The 33-year-old Singaporean who holds a MyKad and Indonesian and South Korean passports, was picked up in a raid about 10.40pm, at a flat in Paya Terubong.
From the Singaporean, a team of policemen seized 4.8kg of syabu, 42.7 grammes of ketamine, two grammes of heroin and 50kg of precursors (a mixture of powdered
synthetic drugs).
State police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi told reporters here today, that the flat was believed to have served as a centre for processing and distribution of drugs. — Bernama
