KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 — The formation of the Umno Special Committee to probe complaints arising from the party election proves that it is a transparent party.
Umno Supreme Council (MT) member Datuk Razali Ibrahim said this is seen by the appointment of Tan Sri Azmi Khalid as the committee chairman rather than Tan Sri Tajol Rosli Ghazali, the Election Committee chairman.
“We don’t appoint the same person to avoid the decision being made by one person. Other parties may appoint the same person but not Umno.
In fact, the disciplinary action will be taken by the Disciplinary Board which is chaired by another person.”
The deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department was speaking to reporters after closing the Felda Generation Convention 2013 at Dewan Perdana Felda, here today.
Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday announced the formation of a special committee to probe complaints about the party election, particularly the wings election last month.
The special committee will report the complaints to the Management Committee which was mandated by MT to make the final decision about the complaints received.
Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had said 172 objections were received in respect of the election, including the issue of indiscipline. — Bernama
