KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 — Police seized a pistol and 50 bullets from a local man while he was riding a motorcycle in a suspicious manner at Jalan Maharajalela, here last night.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah said the 53-year-old man was detained by a police patrol team at 9.45pm and upon inspection, police found a 9mm calibre Parabellum pistol in his sling bag.
He said police also found 700 pills believed to be ecstasy which were kept in a small plastic wrapping, 50 bullets in a small box, one magazine and a box containing coins.
Ku said that upon further inspection at the suspect’s house at 1.30am in Taman Cheras Mas, Cheras, Selangor, police found another 300 pills which were also believed to be ecstasy pills, as well as two penknives, a money lender’s card and a ledger.
“Based on the seized items, we are not ruling out the possibility that the man is a member of a drug trafficking syndicate,” he said when contacted, here today.
He said the suspect, who had a previous criminal record, was being detained for seven days beginning yesterday and the case as being investigated under the Firearms Act 1960. — Bernama
