DHAKA, Nov 18 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak who is on a three-day official visit to Bangladesh met Bangladesh President Md Abdul Hamid in Bangabhaban, the official residence of the President, here, today.
Najib was accompanied by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman and Malaysian ambassador to Bangladesh, Norlin Othman.
Earlier, Najib (picture) who is also the finance minister, and Anifah met his Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at his office for bilateral talks aimed at further strengthening the existing bilateral relationship between Malaysia and Bangladesh.
Najib also visited the Bangabandhu Museum and the country’s National Martyrs’ Monument at Savar and the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum.
The Malaysian prime minister later planted a mango tree at the memorial as a symbolic gesture his visit and the existing relationship.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor officially opened the 8th year anniversary of the ‘Cleft Lip and Palate Project’ which was a joint effort with the Dhaka Community Hospital and Mercy Malaysia.
Najib and Rosmah also attended a dinner hosted by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and witnessed the traditional Bangladesh presentations.
The prime minister is due to leave Dhaka for Kuala Lumpur tomorrow. — Bernama
