KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 13 — Suspicious old ornaments found in the attic of an old bungalow in Jalan Air Molek 2, Titiwangsa here have caused a bomb scare.
A bomb disposal unit was dispatched to the bungalow after its 54-year-old owner called the police at about the discovery of the suspicious objects in the attic which was undergoing renovation at about 1pm.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah said four of the objects turned out to be weights hung from the ceiling as ornaments while another was an inactive mortar without gunpowder and an iron knocker on its tip.
“There is no serial number or label on the mortar and it is believed to have been used to determine its range,” he said when contacted today.
Meanwhile, Sentul police chief ACP Zakaria Pagan said the mortar was not dangerous and it was believed to belong to the house owner’s late father who was a retired soldier. — Bernama
