KUANTAN, Nov 1 — The Pahang government and relevant agencies will discuss resettling the victims of the Bertam Valley, Cameron Highlands mudslide last week at the People's Housing Project (PPR) in the area.
However, only those who genuinely needed a new home would be provided with one as there was a limited number of PPR units available, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob said today.
“Only those who really need new homes will be moved to the PPR project,” he said after a gathering with the Pahang footballers and fans here today.
The Bertam Valley, Ringlet mudslide occurred on October 23 when the Bertam River overflowed following the release of water from the Sultan Abu Bakar dam.
The disaster claimed three lives and destroyed 80 dwellings and about 100 vehicles. One victim is still missing. — Bernama
