KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 — The delivery boy who ran amok and went on a stabbing spree at a crowded LRT station and a busy street — killing two and injuring two others — was high on drugs, police disclosed yesterday.
Sentul police chief ACP Zakaria Pagan said a urine test was conducted on the suspect the day he was taken into custody and the results were positive.
“We are waiting for a full medical report on the suspect from the hospital which includes a mental health evaluation.”
Zakaria said the 26-year-old suspect from Johor had no criminal record.
“We have recorded the statement of witnesses at the scene and also the two survivors, Law Siew Ling, 49, and pregnant Suriani Johari, 40, as part of our investigations.”
Zakaria yesterday accompanied Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar to the funeral of Lee Kah Gee, 40, in Taman Segambut Indah.
Over 200 people — made up of the deceased’s family and friends — turned up to pay their last respects. Relatives were seen carrying banners stating “We seek justice for Lee, he died for no reason”. Lee and 25-year-old Kuan Chun Tai were killed in the Thursday morning incident.
The suspect, armed with a Rambo knife arrived at the Gombak Terminal Putra LRT station before he started chanting in front of a stall. He then stabbed Law and Suriani before driving off in his van towards Persiaran Pertahanan where he crashed into Lee’s van.
The suspect got out of his vehicle and stabbed Lee three times. Lee was a toy salesman and was on his way to meet a customer.
The horror did not end there as the suspect continued driving and crashed into Kuan’s car.
When Kuan got out of the car to check the damage, the suspect ran towards him and stabbed him once.
Kuan tried to run away but the suspect gave chase and stabbed him three more times.
Lee and Kuan died on the spot, while the suspect was caught by bystanders who got together and overpowered him.
Kuan was on track to graduate with a business degree from Tunku Abdul Rahman University College next month.
