SHAH ALAM, Oct 28 — The High Court today ordered a 19-year-old teenager to be sent to the Sekolah Henry Gurney after he pleaded guilty to causing the death of a businessman two years ago.
Judge Datuk Abdul Alim Abdullah ordered the teenager who was represented by S.S. Ruban, to be detained at Henry Gurney until he reaches 21, because when the crime was committed, he was only 17 and a minor.
The teenager and another suspect who is still at large were accused of causing the death of A. Murugaiyah, 27, at the Batu 16 traffic lights junction in Sungai Pelong, Jalan Kuala Selangor, near here, between 3am and 5am on December 12, 2011.
He was charged under Section 304 (b) of the Penal Code and read together with Section 34 of the same Act which carries a maximum 10 years jail or fine or both, upon conviction.
The teenager had earlier faced a murder charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction. — Bernama
