IPOH, Oct 25 — The situation in the flood-hit areas of Perak continued to improve this evening, with only 100 remaining at three evacuation centres in the state.
Manjung District Social Welfare Department Officer Anuwar Ismail said 62 people were at the Sekolah Agama Rakyat Padang Serai relief centre and 21 at the Kampung Tebuk Yan community hall.
The flood which hit Alor Pongsu, Bagan Serai, in the Kerian District has also receded, thanks to the fine weather today.
Bagan Serai Fire and Rescue Service chief Zainuddin Mohd Nordin said the stretches at Km13 and Km17 of the road from Alor Pongsu to Bagan Serai near Kampung Permatang Tengah remained closed to light vehicles.
“The number of evacuees at Sekolah Kebangsaan Alor Pongsu still stands at 17,” he said.
The high tide phenomenon, monsoon transition and heavy rain contributed to the flood in several areas in Perak. — Bernama
