SETIU, Oct 21 — A Setiu Umno division delegate who could not cast his vote at the party’s divisional and national elections as he had fainted at a voting centre in a school, died last night.
Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad, 54, a member of the Umno Setiu Committee died about 11pm without regaining consciousness at Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirahin in Kuala Terengganu.
On Saturday, the Gong Ubi Keling Umno branch chief fainted at 11.30am at the voting centre in SMK Saujana Setiu.
Jabi State Assemblyman Mohd Iskandar Jaafar said Wan Hassan, who was Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Jabi headmaster, had complained he was unwell before fainting at the voting centre while waiting for his turn to vote.
He was sent to the Setiu Hospital in Bandar Permaisuri before being transferred to Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah when his condition worsened.
Wan Hassan was buried in his village, Kampung Tempinis, before noon.
He is survived by a widow and two children. — Bernama
