KEMAMAN, Oct 17 — A man and his son died and his wife was seriously hurt in a collision between a four-wheel drive vehicle and a tanker at Kilometre 150.8, Jalan Jerangau-Jabor, here this evening.
Mohd Latip Abu Bakar, 37, from Kampung Parit Buaya, Johor and Muhammad Rayyan, 4, died at the scene of the mishap near Kampung Cheneh, from injuries on their bodies and heads.
Latip’s wife Rohaini Pengis, 29, who also had bodily injuries, broke both legs, while the driver of the tanker, Krishnan A/l Nalathamby, 41, who sustained external injuries, were warded at the Kemaman Hospital.
Mohd Latip who was a manager of an estate in Chini, Kuantan was believed to be trapped in his seat while his son was thrown in front of the vehicle during the collision.
The incident took place at 3pm when the family were heading for Kuala Terengganu from Kuantan.
Kemaman District Police chief Che Suza Che Hitam said the accident was believed to have taken place when the tanker driven by Krishnan, from Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan, went out of control and entered the opposite lane.
The bodies of the victims were also sent to the Kemaman Hospital for post-mortem, Che Suza said. — Bernama
