HANOI, Oct 16 — Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin arrived in Hanoi late this evening to begin a three-day visit to Vietnam.

He was accompanied by wife, Puan Sri Norainee Abdul Rahman, upon arrival at 7pm.

Muhyiddin’s (picture) visit is expected to focus on strengthening cooperation in higher education and attracting investors from Vietnam.

Early tomorrow morning, he will pay a courtesy call on Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, followed by the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of higher education between the two countries.

In the afternoon, he will pay a courtesy call on Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. Later in the evening, he will dine with the Malaysian community in Vietnam.

On Friday, the deputy prime minister will attend a roundtable meeting with captains of industry from Malaysia and Vietnam.

Accompanying Muhyiddin during his visit are Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman and Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. — Bernama
