KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 — The government has allocated more than RM18 billion for rural development since 2010, said Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

The prime minister said the funds were used to construct 3,350km of roads, and provide clean water to over 297,000 houses, electricity to over 95,000 houses and other beneficial initiatives.

In a posting on his Facebook account, Najib (picture), who is finance minister, invited the public to give their input on other possible initiatives that could be undertaken.

“Do you think that more could be done? Share your thoughts and ideas with us on our #Bajet2014 discussions between now and Sept 8 at http://bit.ly/Bajet_2014,” he said.

The 2014 Budget is scheduled to be tabled at the Dewan Rakyat on October 25. — Bernama
