BUKIT MERTAJAM, Aug 28 — A man pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here today to charges of obstructing three policemen from discharging their duties and for insulting their modesty by using offensive gestures at them last Sunday.

K. Thasarathan, 31, is charged with obstructing the policemen, Muhamad Mukhlis Abdul Aziz, Izham Ibrahim and Aminuddin Alias, from discharging their public functions by pushing a police patrol car, which the public servants were travelling in, out of the way at KM140 of the North-South Expressway (north bound) heading towards Sungai Dua near here at 6.15pm on August 25.

The office assistant was also charged with using offensive gestures at the three policemen at the same place, time and date.

Judge Musyiri Peet allowed Thasarathan bail of RM5,000 on both charges and set September 25 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Lim Saw Sim prosecuted, while Thasarathan was represented by lawyers E. Gnasegaran and V. Partiban. — Bernama
