KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 — The Attorney-General’s Chambers has filed an appeal to the Federal Court against the acquittal of Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar of the murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu by the Court of Appeal.
The notice of appeal was filed last Friday, the same day the Court of Appeal made the decision, according to a report today in news portal Malaysiakini.
“The notice (of appeal) has been filed on the same day as the decision,” it quoted Deputy Solicitor-General II Tun Abdul Majid Tun Hamzah as confirming in a text message.
In its ruling, the Court of Appeal had said there were serious misdirections by the Shah Alam High Court judge who heard the murder case.
