SIBU, Aug 24 — Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), the backbone of the Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN) government, is still very strong to defend the rights of Bumiputeras in the state, said its senior vice-president Tan Sri Adenan Satem.
He said there was therefore no need for other BN parties from outside Sarawak to take over the role of PBB and that the results of the last state election were testament to this.
PBB won 35 of the 71 seats in the state assembly.
Adenan, who is also the state minister for special functions, said PPB’s partners in BN could continue to count on the party to deliver the goods in Sarawak.
He said PPB would also continue to assist its partners in the coalition to do well in elections as it did in helping the BN candidate from the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party to win the Saratok seat in the 13th general election.
Adenan said this when officiating at the triennial delegates conference of PPB’s Bawang Assan, Pelawan, Dudong, Bukit Assek and Nangka divisions here today. — Bernama
