SHAH ALAM, Aug 15 — Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz has brushed off allegations of nepotism in his son’s appointment as his special officer, insisting he need not appease those critical of the move.

Nazri also said he did not care about the speculation over his son’s listing on his ministry’s website, and that he only needed to account for himself.

“I don’t need to please them, he shall remain special officer to me,” the minister of tourism and culture said at a media conference here.

“I don’t care what bloggers write about me. I don’t care what journalists write about me.

“Today I’m still a minister, elected with a bigger majority in my constituency so what have you got to say?” said Nazri, who is also Padang Rengas MP.

Later, Nazri also said his son was “happy working” for him, but said Nedim will have to deal with the controversy because of his relationship as the minister’s son.

Nazri also dismissed suggestions that Nedim would go into politics, having said earlier that his son is not a politician.

“The only politician in the family is me, I have decided a long time ago, none of my family will get involved in politics,” he said.
