PASIR GUDANG, Aug 11 — Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin today indicated that he would not go for any position in the Umno Supreme Council in party elections in October.
Instead, the Johor Umno Liaison Committee chief said, he would focus on the administration of the state government.
"It is not fair of me to go for any higher post but be unable to focus on the responsibility, and it will also not be fair to my supporters," he told reporters here.
Mohamed Khaled was approached at the Aidilfitri open house he held as the state assemblyman for Permas at the Pasir Gudang Indoor Stadium and asked whether he would contest a post of vice-president in the party elections.
Mohamed Khaled was appointed the mentri besar of Johor on May 14. — Bernama
