KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 — There was heavy traffic on the North-South Expressway heading to the federal capital, beginning at 1.30pm today.

From the south, traffic is slow moving from Senawang to Nilai, a Plus Expressway Berhad traffic control centre spokesman told Bernama here.

He said from the north, traffic was slow moving from Sungai Petani to Bukit Tambun, Penang; and from Taiping to Bukit Berapit; and from Simpang Pulai to Tapah in Perak; as well as from Nilai to Seremban.

He added that the rest and recreation areas (R&R) were crowded, especially at the Tapah southbound R&R, Sungai Perak R&R and Simpang Pulai layby.

Meanwhile, heading north, the Seremban R&R was reported to be crowded, said the spokesman.

In this regard, the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) reported traffic from the East Coast to the federal capital was smooth and under control, except at the Bentong toll plaza and the East Coast Highway towards Bukit Tinggi where traffic was building up.
