GEORGE TOWN, July 12 — A man on a motorcycle fired at least 10 shots in the direction of a car repossessor chatting with a friend in the compound of the Golf View Apartments in Bukit Jambul here last night, injuring the former’s four-year-old son just above the left knee.

The boy, B. Shawn Yashwin, who was also injured in the forehead apparently by a ricocheting bullet, has been admitted to the Pantai Hospital in Bayan Baru and is in stable condition, said Penang CID chief SAC Mazlan Kesah.

He said the boy’s father, E. Beritto, 33, and the friend were unhurt in the 10.45pm incident.

The gunman, wearing a half-face crash helmet, a black jacket and gloves, entered the compound through a back entrance and opened fire from a distance of five to 10 metres, he said.

Mazlan said Beritto lives in Bayan Baru and has no criminal record.

Police found 10 9mm bullet casings at the scene of the incident, he added. — Bernama
