BUKIT MERTAJAM, July 3 — A foetus, believed to be five months old, was found stuck in a rubbish trap at a sewage treatment plant in Taman Juru, here, today.
A police source said the foetus with the umbilical cord intact was found by a Indah Water Konsortium worker who was cleaning the sewage plant about 12.30pm.
He said the foetus only measured 10 centimetres and had near complete features but the gender was unknown.
“According to the worker who discovered the foetus, there was a sewer pipe that connected to the sewage plant with nearby residental areas.
“The foetus is believed to have been thrown through the toilet from the residental area before entering the sewage plant,” he said.
Seberang Perai Tengah police chief ACP Azman Abd Lah when contacted confirmed the incident and said that police was investigating the case.
The foetus was sent to the Bukit Mertajam Hospital. — Bernama
