KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 — Renowned educationist Tan Sri Dr Awang Had Salleh, 79, died this morning.

According to his son Nazman, Awang Had died at about 3.03am at Putrajaya Hospital.

He said his father’s remains would be sent to another son’s house in Presint 10, Putrajaya before burial in Presint 20 today.

Awang Had’s son-in-law, Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan, who is also urban wellbeing, housing and local government minister, said his father-in-law died from lung complications. 

Awang Had leaves a wife, Puan Sri Salmah Abu Bakar, 69, and five sons and two daughters.

His daughter Norazlina said her father would be buried after zuhur prayers today.

She said her father had just celebrated his birthday on June 24. — Bernama
