KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 — Taobao Malaysia has launched its 11.11 Global Shopping Festival, offering free shipping on 400 million products and introducing new artificial intelligence (AI) tools to improve the cross-border shopping experience.
The campaign runs from October 20 to November 13, 2026, and provides Malaysian consumers with access to over three billion products across various categories, including fashion, home living and furniture.
Taobao Malaysia Country Head Jess Lew said the platform aims to offer high-quality products at greater value while simplifying the shopping journey.
“Today’s consumers are looking beyond basic necessities. They are seeking quality products that reflect their interests and lifestyles,” she said in a statement.
She added that the platform has continuously invested in localising the experience, which includes introducing Bahasa Malaysia and English interfaces, partnering with local payment providers, and strengthening customer service.
“The expansion of our local return network is another important step towards giving consumers greater confidence and convenience when shopping across borders,” Lew said.
To assist shoppers, the platform is rolling out four AI-powered features.
These include an AI Try-On feature for visualising clothing, an AI Shopping Assistant for personalised recommendations and price comparisons, AI Product Insights for summarising reviews and specifications, and a Voice-Search-by-Hold tool for users who cannot find the right keywords.
In addition to the digital enhancements, Taobao is expanding its local logistics network.
Starting in November, the platform will introduce more than 1,400 local return drop-off points across Malaysia in collaboration with J&T Express.
This service aims to allow shoppers to return eligible purchases domestically without needing international shipping.
The campaign also features several promotions and savings for consumers:
- Up to 15 per cent off sitewide through official platform discounts
- Daily air shipping discount vouchers at 12pm and 8pm
- Exclusive up to RM50 RHB Bank instant rebates for eligible cardholders
- Up to RM8 waiver in payment processing fees
- Up to RM40 in new users’ perks
- Platform vouchers offering up to 50 per cent off for English app users
As home improvement gains traction among Malaysian consumers, Taobao has made more than 1 million furniture items, including sofas, dining tables and height-adjustable desks, eligible for direct shipping to Malaysia.
During the festival, shoppers can also grab up to RM30 in furniture shipping vouchers on eligible purchases, which is complemented by compensation protection for damaged items via Taobao Official Logistics.
To build excitement beyond the digital space, Taobao is bringing the campaign offline through activations at Lalaport Kuala Lumpur on October 24 and 25, and at Xiamen University Malaysia on October 27 and 28.
These events build on the platform’s recent partnership with popular actor Zhang Linghe, including the newly launched Zhang Linghe-themed app interface and daily treasure hunt campaign, giving visitors the chance to engage with interactive experiences and redeem exclusive themed merchandise.
