JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 28 — Those craving a unique overnight stay can now head to the city’s latest attraction, which offers accommodation inside a Boeing 747 aircraft.
The two decommissioned wide-body jetliners, named Bove and Bey, house a total of 18 luxury cockpit suites as part of an aviation-themed lifestyle complex spanning 14.9 acres in Kempas here.
Bove was formerly operated by Pan Am, while Bey was operated by Japan Airlines before both aircraft were decommissioned and sold.
Billed as a first-of-its-kind aviation stay experience, the 1975 Avenue & Hotel, developed by Tiong Nam Group, is located about 20 minutes from the city centre.
Upon arrival, visitors are welcomed by the complex’s retro, orange-hued design, which blends hospitality, dining, retail and experiential leisure.
It also offers 20 separate hotel rooms themed after different countries for guests who prefer more conventional accommodation.
The 1975 Avenue & Hotel complex boasts a lagoon pool set amid resort gardens, a cantilevered swimming pool and a sunken Jacuzzi.
It also features a gymnasium, spa and sauna facilities, as well as a family-friendly playground for children.
A Tiong Nam Group spokesman said the 1975 Avenue & Hotel represents more than a property development.
“It is a lifestyle destination designed to offer memorable experiences for families, business travellers, and lifestyle seekers alike.
“The integration of aviation heritage, contemporary hospitality, and vibrant dining concepts positions this project as a landmark attraction in Johor Bahru,” the spokesman said.
Rooms at the 1975 Avenue & Hotel feature a king-size bed, a separate bathtub, a bathroom with a rain shower and a separate living area.
Each room can accommodate up to three people, with nightly rates ranging from RM1,706 to RM2,786, depending on the room type.
