LONDON, Aug 21 — The Duchess of Sussex could be preparing to put acting firmly back on her agenda as she and Prince Harry ready themselves for a return to the United Kingdom, according to reports.

Sources close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not denied claims that Meghan has been offered an acting role in the UK, the BBC reported.

Australian outlet news.com.au first reported that a possible acting job was among the factors behind the Sussexes’ decision to return to the UK.

No details of the project or role have been confirmed.

But the timing has inevitably fuelled speculation about a more substantial return to the career she left behind after becoming a member of the Royal Family.

Meghan, 45, was best known as paralegal-turned-lawyer Rachel Zane in the hit US legal drama Suits, appearing in seven seasons before her final episode aired in 2018.

She stepped away from acting after marrying Prince Harry that year, telling the BBC at the time that she did not regard the move as giving anything up, but rather as “a new chapter”.

The duchess recently made her first acting appearance in almost a decade with a cameo as herself in the forthcoming comedy Close Personal Friends, starring Lily Collins and Brie Larson.

A return to acting could prove lucrative, while the BBC understands that Meghan also hopes to use her time in the UK to broaden the international reach of her US-based lifestyle and cooking brand, As Ever.

Harry and Meghan are expected to arrive in the UK before the end of August with their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five.

The family is understood to be planning to live in a private, non-royal residence outside London, with Archie and Lilibet due to begin school in September.

Their return follows a significant family reunion in July, when Harry, Meghan and the children visited King Charles III at Highgrove in Gloucestershire.

It marked the first time the King had seen his grandchildren in person in more than four years and the first joint visit to the UK by Harry and Meghan since 2022.

According to the BBC, Charles had not been aware of the Sussexes’ relocation plans before last weekend, although he is said to welcome the prospect of seeing more of the family privately.

Despite the move, there are no plans for Harry or Meghan to return as working royals.
