KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 — CapitaLand has been named Company of the Year for Community Care & Sustainable Impact in the shopping mall category at the Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards 2026, recognising its efforts to support underserved communities through social and sustainability initiatives.

The company said the award recognised its flagship community initiative in Malaysia, #GivingBersama 5.0, which provided approximately RM200,000 worth of daily necessities and educational supplies to around 2,250 beneficiaries nationwide, including underserved children, orphanage homes and low-income families.

The initiative was supported by CapitaLand Hope Foundation, the philanthropic arm of CapitaLand Group, and also brought together staff, industry partners and the community to provide healthcare, wellness services and other essential support to families in need.

This marks CapitaLand’s fourth consecutive Company of the Year recognition at the Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards.

CapitaLand Investment (Malaysia) Managing Director, Retail, Selina Ng said the recognition reflected the company’s commitment to supporting the communities it serves and the collective efforts of its employees, tenants, partners and volunteers.

“Through #GivingBersama 5.0 and our collaborations with like-minded organisations, we have expanded our support beyond essential aid to include healthcare, wellness and community empowerment initiatives that improve the quality of life for vulnerable families,” she said.

CapitaLand said it had supported community development in Malaysia for more than a decade, contributing over RM2.8 million towards community initiatives since 2011 with the support of CapitaLand Hope Foundation, and positively impacting more than 18,300 beneficiaries nationwide.

In 2025 alone, more than 210 employee volunteers contributed close to 1,740 volunteer hours across various community programmes in Malaysia.

The 2025 edition of #GivingBersama 5.0, held from Oct 16 to Nov 20, mobilised CapitaLand employee volunteers to support nearly 680 low-income families and 220 underserved children in collaboration with Unit Mutiara Food Bank (Penang) and the Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat Malaysia offices in Kuala Lumpur, Kuantan and Johor.

The programme also expanded its reach through collaborations with industry partners, with Big Pharmacy joining as a strategic partner for the first time to provide complimentary health check-ups for B40 families.

Adventist Hospital Penang provided free health screenings, while NSK Grocer contributed daily necessities and Little Scoop treated families in the Klang Valley to complimentary yoghurt ice cream.

Beneficiaries also took part in CapitaLand’s community bazaar experience at community halls across the Klang Valley and Kuantan, as well as at Gurney Plaza, where families could select essential items according to their needs, including groceries, fresh produce, healthy snacks and educational supplies.

#GivingBersama 5.0 is part of CapitaLand’s global #GivingAsOne campaign, which brings together staff, tenants, business partners and customers across markets to support vulnerable communities.

In 2025, more than 17,000 volunteers across 14 countries contributed over 100,000 volunteer hours, benefiting more than 130,000 people globally.

The Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards recognise organisations demonstrating leadership in sustainability and corporate social responsibility while delivering meaningful impact in the communities they serve.

CapitaLand said the latest recognition reinforced its commitment to integrating sustainability into its business and creating positive social impact through purposeful community engagement.
