KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 — Sports fashion retailer JD Sports is marking its 10th anniversary in Malaysia with plans to expand its retail footprint and strengthen the country’s role as the company’s Southeast Asia hub.
The retailer, which opened its first Malaysian flagship store at Sunway Pyramid in 2016, now operates 23 outlets nationwide and plans to open three more stores by the end of the year.
Following its growth in Malaysia, JD Sports said the country now serves as its Southeast Asia hub, overseeing operations in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.
To commemorate the milestone, the retailer will launch a year-long anniversary campaign featuring exclusive product releases, consumer rewards and omnichannel promotions.
The celebrations will begin with JD Frequency, a five-day pop-up event at Sunway Pyramid from July 22 to 26, featuring product showcases, interactive brand activations and live performances by local and regional artists.
JD Sports Southeast Asia chief executive officer Andre Loong in a press statement said the retailer had focused on bringing global sports fashion brands and previously hard-to-find products closer to Malaysian consumers over the past decade.
He said the company would continue investing in both its physical stores and digital platforms while expanding its range of exclusive “Only at JD” collections developed in collaboration with global brand partners.
JD Sports said it upgraded its e-commerce platform last year, introducing services such as Ship From Store and Click & Collect to provide a more integrated online and offline shopping experience.
The retailer works with brands including Nike, adidas, New Balance, ON Running, PUMA and ASICS, while also developing collections tailored to Southeast Asian consumers.
Visitors to JD Frequency will also be able to take part in brand activations and product customisation experiences by participating brands, alongside exclusive product showcases and giveaways.
