KUALA LUMPUR, June 19 — Generali Malaysia and Amanah Raya Berhad (AmanahRaya) have launched Gen Sinar, a low-cost insurance plan designed to shield underserved families from financial ruin.
The initiative safeguards a child’s education, ensuring schooling remains on track even if the household breadwinner suffers a fatal accident or permanent disability.
For many Malaysian households, daily survival often outweighs long-term security. This protection gap leaves children vulnerable to cycles of hardship.
Gen Sinar addresses this divide by making financial resilience accessible to those who need it most.
“Gen Sinar is more than just an insurance plan, it is a purpose-driven social protection initiative built on a non-profit model. We share the aspiration of the community and believe that education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty.
“By making protection accessible to underserved families, we aim to ensure that children can continue their education even in the most difficult circumstances.” said Fabrice Benard, CEO of Generali Insurance Malaysia Berhad.
The plan is priced at RM91.28 for the first year and just RM59.40 for subsequent years. In a crisis, it provides an immediate RM20,000 lump sum to stabilise the home.
This is paired with a RM250 monthly education allowance per child until they turn 18, with total support potentially reaching RM100,000.
Families also receive two annual telemedicine sessions to support physical and mental well-being.
AmanahRaya serves as the Trustee for all education benefits, ensuring that funds are transparently managed and used solely for the child’s schooling.
“This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that underserved families are not left behind when it comes to financial protection and access to educational support for their children.
“As Malaysia’s Only Public Trustee, AmanahRaya carries a broader responsibility not only in safeguarding the interests of beneficiaries, but also in contributing positively towards the well-being of the communities we serve.
“Through Gen Sinar, we hope to provide greater peace of mind to families, while ensuring that the support intended for children’s education is properly safeguarded and managed for their future benefit,” said Jack Yap Ngee Heong, Acting Group Managing Director of Amanah Raya Berhad.
